Part 3: Predicted Affiliate Marketing Direction in 2022

In the previous parts of this series (what’s waiting for 2022 for Affiliate Marketers), we first discussed the best ways to advertise online. The second phase focused on digital marketing trends and forecasts for 2022.

Finally, in this third part, I will show you the predicted affiliate marketing direction in 2022. 

Nevertheless, it is impossible to analyze the direction of affiliate marketing for this year without taking a critical look at affiliate marketing trends from two to three years back.

It is evident that ever since the outbreak of COVID 19 in 2019, which resulted in lockdowns and social distancing, consumers have trooped online.

This situation increased the prominence and prosperity of both e-commerce and affiliate marketing like never before. 

Following this, affiliate marketing has grown to become the backbone of most online businesses.

However, in the just-concluded year, the affiliate marketing society experienced some changes as a result of the universal change in the world’s system.

So, for 2022, here are the four predictions I like to make based on the trend of the year 2021. 

1. Loyalty Marketing

Loyalty marketing will have it more in the affiliate marketing world than just being involved in some intrusive practices.

Back in the days, when affiliate marketing was not all that common, there were a lot of transparency problems between organizations, customers, and affiliate marketers.

But, in 2021, affiliate marketing suddenly moved from intrusive practices of getting customers and potential buyers to building trust between brands, customers, and affiliates.

What really worked in 2021 was a trustworthy brand and a strong relationship with partners and producers. 

Also, for 2022, I predict that the loyalty trend will become stronger as customers will be more interested in patronizing trustworthy brands.

Since most business platforms have moved online, there is possibly no room for buyers to have physical contact to authenticate products and services before payment is made.

As a result, there will be a greater need for building trust among buyers, brands, and affiliates than ever before.

Affiliates will as well be more confident to work for reliable companies that value their services, guarantee good commission, and most importantly, have built a good reputation in the market over the years. 

Also, the brands and companies will prefer to go through trusted affiliates to achieve their goals of higher sales than anything else.

On this note, I’d say that loyalty marketing will have it more on the successful side in this industry.

But, this does not mean that new brands and organizations cannot gain ground or make a significant impact.

A new company that focuses on building trust and reputation will equally thrive in the labor market. 

2. Crypto Currency

Secondly, another notable change I see coming in the year 2022 is that the affiliate marketing industry will tend to move towards cryptocurrency alliances and advancements.

I’d say this is due to the fact that cryptocurrency has become more popular than in the last few years and most importantly, has become generally accepted.

Few years back, this was not the narrative as most people were ignorant of the crypto industry and its validity and as a result, feared investing in it.

But over the years, the tides have turned, and people of all classes have started to believe in it as the future of the world’s currency.

Even governments and banks have begun to invest in this industry, which outrightly means more profit will be made in the crypto industry, and affiliate marketing will also turn in that direction.

More crypto affiliates will spring up in a bid to increase the total number of investors per time. 

Subsequently, this will help more people partner with crypto advertisers in the crypto industry. As cryptocurrency is gaining ground in society, affiliate marketing in the industry will as well gain more ground.

The fact that cryptocurrency could be transacted through online platforms is a plus because affiliate marketing has become the backbone of most online businesses.

This oneness in strategy will make the direction of affiliate marketing move significantly towards cryptocurrency. 

Besides, it is equally right to say that affiliate marketing will be more centered around cryptocurrency in the year 2022 since businesses around the world now sees it as a cost-effective method of reaching targeted audiences.

The crypto industry will not be an exception to this as well. Also, the prominence of affiliate marketing means that certain products and industries will experience more growth, and cryptocurrency seems to be one of the few industries that will experience massive growth due to the effectiveness of affiliate marketing.

3. Higher Demands of Affiliate Marketing Programs

Another situation that lies ahead for the year 2022 is that there will be a higher demand for affiliate marketing programs.

As a result, there will be more concise platforms for the newbies to learn. It is just natural for anyone to aspire to gain more knowledge about making money.

And since affiliate marketing has proven to be one of the fastest mediums of making passive income, many people who are new to the system will desire to learn more about affiliate marketing so that they can also earn some cool cash.

It is obvious that the desire to learn about this online money-making business may not necessarily be for the fun of it but for the fact that it will render some financial help.

Either way, there will be a higher demand for learning affiliate programs, and several platforms will be opened for newbies to learn and gain the expertise required for them to do well in the business world.      

4. Competition

Lastly, in 2022, I forecast there will be so much competition for both brands and affiliates than ever.

I simply said there would be lots of competition between brands and affiliates owing to the popularity of affiliate marketing than before.

More popularity means the existence of more affiliate marketers, and more affiliate marketer simply means more competition.

On top of this, the desire of brands and affiliates to make more money will give room for more competition in the marketing world than ever. 

Having said all of these, I believe strongly that affiliate marketing will do excellently well against all odds in the year 2022.

Therefore, if advertisers and publishers consider these predictions, they will surely make the best out of the year 2022.
